Saturday, 8pm & Sunday, 2pmHigh art meets low when the words of early 20th Century poets are given voice in this cabaret of wooden puppets, rolling paper scrolls and bass drums.
The performances are based on the writings of Federico Garcia Lorca and Wallace Stevens as well as a traditional New Orleans blues song.
Recommended for ages 14 and up.
For the Love of Puppets, a cabaret of puppet shows by the Twin Cities puppet community, will entertain you into the night. There will also be food, drinks & live music!

February 18–26 See the world's only puppet rock yoga opera for families in search of calm! Sail along with this epic tale of a sea captain discovering the secrets to taming the stormy seas of stress. Doors open an hour before each show for Z Puppets Family Happy Hour, with free face painting and fun with our Island of Calm. Recommended for ages 3 and up.

Nearly every Saturday through March, different artists perform engaging puppet shows at 10am and noon. These performances will delight kids of all ages. Families can also attend hands-on Make-n-Take puppet workshops based on that day's puppet show theme.
Planning has begun for the 2012 MayDay Parade & Festival and we need your input! Everyone is invited to one or both of our open brainstorming meetings. Bring your ideas, concerns, hopes and dreams about building a sustainable future. And tell your friends and neighbors!

Grant-Writing Intern - draft the narrative portions of grant applications with the guidance of our Development Director

Grant Researcher Intern - assist the Development Director in identifying foundations and corporations who might welcome a grant application from HOBT
MayDay Marketing & PR Intern - Assist with MayDay marketing, public relations, social media, & the assembly and editing of the MayDay Program

The grand upheaval happening in the world, is in part, a manifestation of collective dreaming on a global scale. In this year, let us uphold the bold power of people coming together to make these dreams reality! Our theatre also revels in dreams of quiet mystery that can be found beneath the surface. In this darkest month, we perform "Winter Dreams," a lovely, lyrical meditation of the non-human world before the light's return. Dreaming propels our "theatre of wonder" through our residency programs, our Saturday Puppet Show series, the build and enactment of the Mayday Festival, and our community partnerships.
With your support, we continue to nurture the creativity of children and adults alike — from a first encounter with the puppetry arts through offerings of professional development. Together we are shaping our future as a puppet center with deep roots in the neighborhood and limbs spread wide to serve a vision of health for the world. We are not allowing the continued national economic stress to cast a gloomy shadow on our work. Indeed, we believe even more deeply in the power of abundance that rises from the hearts and dreams of people who come together with authentic creativity for the common good.
