HOBT Residencies

HOBT water residenciyIn addition to school residencies, HOBT develops custom residencies for communities.

HOBT artists have just finished sharing their experience and strategies for building a community-wide puppet parade with folks in Milwaukee.

HOBT water residenciesAnd, thanks to Arts Across Minnesota funding provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board, HOBT will be working with two Minnesota communities this summer, exploring and celebrating water, our precious resource, through the arts.

5 Centers for Art—Creative Free For All

  • August 17-21 9 am - 3 pm

Feed your creative appetite with five days at five different arts organizations: In the Heart of the Beast Theatre, Highpoint Center for Printmaking, Textile Center, Minnesota Center for Book Arts, and Northern Clay Center. Attend a different art center each day and learn exciting art-making techniques from professional artists.

Each weeklong session follows a different artistic theme. Create a variety of art masterpieces including expressive puppets and masks; monoprints, drypoints, and relief prints; unique dyes and weavings; books and handmade paper; and wheel-thrown pottery and sculpture.

HOBT shows at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum this summer!

HOBT’s touring shows about water will be performed at Minnesota Landscape Arboretum this summer as they celebrate water through their summer exhibition, Waterosity: Go Green with a Splash, which runs through October 4. Bringing together the perspectives of artists, scientists and horticulturalists, Waterosity celebrates this most precious resource with fresh thinking about people, plants and water.

Are You ThirstuyA dynamic exploration of a myriad of questions contained in a cup of water--one of our most precious and necessary shared resources. This performance demonstrates how much of the earth’s water is available for drinking, compares tap and bottled water, and helps us understand ourselves as part of the urban water cycle—bringing water issues vibrantly to life.

What makes a shower and what keeps all the grass so green? What can help you brush your teeth or dive into the deep? Water of course! The water that we know so well...or do we? This one person, bi-lingual (Spanish/English) show for small children investigates Minnesota's historic connection to water.
